Idiot Hatter

For some reason I find it ironic that Philip Klein's latest foray into political dissertation is loosely based upon Lewis Carroll's classic novel appropriately set in the mythical world of 'Wonderland'. Philip once again tries to enlighten us with his dubious insight into local politics focusing this time on Commissioner Dominque.

He is like the Mad Hatter. He is sitting back - listening and watching. As much as we do not like Domingue's politics or heavy handed tax and spend philosophy in running government - we like the way he runs his politics.

As compared to what our illustrious 'political consultant/personal bodyguard wrote in June of last year:

...add one part Dominque, one part Eddie, and a little Bo, and then stir in some conservative businessmen and women, and let simmer for about six months. And poof!!!! Turmoil!

Ah, but that does not deter the simple minded logic of our mid-county friend. He further writes:

Meaning? When the sheep go to the polls - they will remember Domingue more than they will remember Branick.

Yet less than six months ago, he said:

Branick would win- but Dominque would go down in a ball of flames and send everything into a mess.

Methinks the only mess here is in Philip's head. But, I digress. Philip goes on to write:

No matter what you say about Domingue - he has base support from the Democratic Party.

Yet let us look at Philip's 'poll' from July of last year: (Eagles Note: I really don't believe any of this shit and neither should you)

Jeff Branick---37%
Mark Dominque---3%
Miriam Johnson---3%
A Republican---40%
None of the Above---18%

Adding this 'insightful' (not) prediction a few months later:

Let's say Weaver announces. The first question is which party? Rumors abound that the GOP has a fresh face waiting in the wings to run Domingue. The Review has been asked not to leak the name. But after looking at the numbers from Novembers election - Pct. 2 is a red district. To the tune of 59%. That is some strong cross over.

Now, let's say Walker steps down as many suggest in January or February and his assistant Jeff Branick agrees to take the spot until they can fight it out in the primary in 2010 which is only 16 months. That leaves the County Judges seat into a wide open fray.

Well Philip, that didn't come to pass now did it? Perhaps you should step up and run..

Run for office? No way no how. It would be a pay decrease big time first of all. Second, why? Really, why? ...Although it would be fun to run Mark Domingue.

Pay decrease. Really?????

Mr. Domingue is not doing so bad - get this - a homestead worth $240,430 and other property worth $74,000? Hello Mr. Domingue! Again - not bad for a career civil servant with one job. If you average value homes in the area - well get this kids - we show Mr. Domingue at just over $310,000 in total net worth in property alone! Wow! And we see no mortgage - Mr. Domingue pays his own taxes? And is paid up to date!

And yours is what? Half that?

Much like the author of Alice's tale, it appears that Philip once again is off his meds.
