Those Peksy Counters

Over the weekend, Philip Klein made a much touted returned to the internet, but alas, he apparently learned nothing during his hiatus. Philip writes:

"I have hired and retained an Austin law firm to monitor two sites in particular - and we know who those sites are."

We here at the Eagle's Nest have had monitors monitoring the monitors for some time now. In particular, our monitors are monitoring the monitors for violations of both State and Federal Law, the laws of man, the law of gravity, the law of the jungle, jungle love, law and order, and most importantly.......the laws of mathematics.

One of our chief monitors monitoring the monitors, The Count brought to our attention an unusual anomaly over the weekend regarding Philip's counters and the following claim:

"We had over 154,000 hits for September. Maybe folks were just checking on us - or hitting the link sites to Ike - but for whatever we had a great September."

Readers who regularly peruse the verbose spewings of the Southeast Texas Political Review will notice that EVERY TIME THEY VIEW A PAGE, PHILIP"S COUNTER ADVANCE'S ONE. That means that if you visit the Southeast Texas Political Review and look at Philip's TOP STORY, EDITORIAL, and the letters he writes to himself, the counter would advance FOUR TIMES.

As of September 23, 2008, the counter read 144049:

That would mean that his website received approximately 134 visitors per day.

Interestingly enough, when Philip returned to the internet just a few short days later, his counter read 197210:

Since he was OFFLINE for about a week, that would mean that some 13290 people visited his NEW SOUTHEAST TEXAS POLITICAL REVIEW in roughly 24 hours.
This could mean only one of two things:
1) 13290 people visited his website in a day when he usually has only about 1% of that;
or
